Civic Leadership and Service Series
The Ferré Institute's Civic Leadership and Service Series (CLASS) continued to host engaging discussions with public service leaders in civic engagement and leadership, community infrastructure, and social justice. Since summer 2021, the Civic Leadership and Service series has hosted more than a dozen high-profile speakers like David Lawrence Jr. (Former Miami Herald Publisher and Founder of the Children Trust) and Cecile Scoon (President of the League of Women Voters of Florida) with hundreds of attendees. Students, faculty, staff, and the public have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the speakers.
Social Equity Leadership Conference
As a conference co-chair for the National Academy of Public Administration's (NAPA) 2022 Social Equity Leadership Conference, Dr. Caraballo secured a free sponsorship at this year's event, which will be held virtually by the University of San Francisco School of Management. Several FIU students have been accepted to present papers and full panels at the conference this summer.
Cultural Conversation on Civic Leadership and Social Justice
The hybrid event was hosted by FIU's Office of Social Justice and Inclusion on April 4th 2022.
Women Who Lead (WWL) Conference
Tabled at the FIU’s Women Who Lead (WWL) was a two-day leadership & career conference designed to enhance the personal, professional & academic leadership development of students. This year's conference was held from March 15-16 in the Graham Center Ballroom at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The panel "Civic LeadHership: Champions for Change" was moderated by Ferré Institute Program Coordinator, Amanda Knapp, and included Dr. Caraballo, and Ferré team member and Ph.D. in Public Affairs candidate Monica Bustinza.
The Maurice A. Ferré Institute for Civic Leadership attends academic Public Administration & Political Science conferences nationwide to continue to learn and promote civic leadership.
